Directions:
- Download “Problem Solving Packet” then “Make a Copy”
- Type your NAME and the PERIOD in the packet
- Research what an Air Dragsters is and how it works
- Vocabulary List must be completed by the term “Step 2” (You may use Google or other online resources including those provided at the Media Center. Especially Grolier.)
- Sketches of 4 different design in the packet “Step 3” (get them approved)
- Check to make sure to see whether your ideas form Step 3 follow the constraint “Step 4”
- Pick “Your best design” and make a Refined Detailed Sketch, “Step 5”
- Draft a set of plans in the packet “Step 6”
- Get it all approved by Mr. Bishopp
- Build it….
- Assemble it using the provided directions
- Test it…
- Document the observations from the test and do all the provided calculations, “Step 7”
- To receive a grade for the project and the participation you must complete and submit the write-up below
Problem Statement:
I need to research, design, construct, test, and perfect an air powered dragster to travel a distance of 60′ down the hall. The dragster must be of safe design and operation and must be powered ONLY be the air pressure.
Constraints:
- Powered ONLY by the Air Pressure
- Must be of safe design and operation
- May only use given material
- Must have some aesthetic design
- All judgments are final
- Any other constraints as added by the instructor
