Safety is the focus of all activities, as such strict and clear safety guidelines will be established and followed by all students. The students are expected to receive a score of 100% on the Lab and Hand Tool Safety test.
Power tools are used in the 8th grade classes and sometime in the 7th grade classes, again student safety is paramount. Classes our looked at for a level of class wide maturity before allowed to enter the lab and especially power tools. Student will only be using slower power tools like the palm sander, scroll saw, drill press, disc sander, belt sander, and hand power drills. No student will be allowed to use the table saw, miter saw, or router under any circumstance. If a student is uncomfortable with using the tools other opportunities will be provided.
Due Dates:
I strive for student understanding in my classes. To that end I will accept student work until; one week prior to the end of trimester for full credit. This does not mean students do not have due dates and will be marked with a zero when the due date comes and the assignment is not;received. Students are encouraged to keep up with assignments;as they receive them, as the concepts they learn are the building blocks for future assignments. This will allow me to move forward in class but still give students extra time to understand the assignments if they need it. Students are still encouraged to complete assignments in a timely manner, as assignments that are out too long are rarely ever turned in or, more importantly, understood.
Students are expected to write their first and last name on each assignment page. Work without a name will be discarded with no credit awarded.

Grading Policy
Grading is done as frequently as possible. Assignments turned in one day have no guarantee of being graded that same day. I will make every effort to make sure grades are as current as possible for eligibility checks
I strive for student understanding in my classes. To that end I allow students to make corrections on most work if they are not satisfied with their grade. They must correct the wrong answers and write “Corrections” under the original score. If a student corrects their work accurately they can receive full credit.
